SURVICE: Adding On

This is a sidebar to the article, "SURVICE for Service," Vertiflite, Sept/Oct 2023.

SURVICE Engineering is adherent to the growth-through acquisition strategy.

In May 2008, the company acquired the Metrology Measurement Services Division of Pennsylvania-based Accurex Measurements. A year later, SURVICE acquired Socorro, New Mexico-based Physics, Mathematics and Computers (PMC), specifically for the company’s expertise in the development of survivability/vulnerability simulations.

In October 2011, the company opened an additional office in Northern Virginia, now located near Dumfries, Virginia, to be closer to its US Marine Corps and joint service branch customers; Marine Corps Base Quantico is located nearby. A Michigan office was opened that year.

In December 2018, SURVICE reopened its office in Albuquerque, New Mexico, near customers at Kirtland Air Force Base, the US Air Force Research Laboratory Directed Energy Directorate and the Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center.

A new SURVICE drone research facility in Churchville, Maryland, at the Harford County Airport houses the company’s Applied Technology Operation. The facility expanded into an adjacent hangar due to increased workload and new contract awards. The larger facility brings their total footprint to 25,000 ft² (2,325 m²) of office/lab/high-bay space.

SURVICE Engineering was the Gold Sponsor for the 2022 VFS Design-Build-Vertical Flight (DBVF) student drone competition and hosted the awards ceremony at its Churchville facility. This past June, the company hosted the entire DBVF drone flyoff (see “Educational Initiatives,” Vertiflite, July/Aug 2023), and will host the fourth annual flyoff in April 2024 (see www.vtol.org/fly).
