Astro + Horizon = 3 eVTOL Designs

As mentioned last issue, Astro Aerospace of Dallas, Texas, announced in February that it would acquire Lindsay, Ontario-based Horizon Aircraft, Inc. The combined company intends to continue developing their three eVTOL designs: the all-electric Astro Elroy (shown) passenger and Alta cargo aircraft, as well as the five-passenger, hybrid-electric Horizon Cavorite X5 (see “Hard-Core Hybrids”).

Astro announced on March 18 that Horizon had completed the “200th Successful eVTOL Flight” of a sub-scale prototype “to verify aerodynamics, control systems and transition flight.”
