AutoFlight Secures CATL Investment

AutoFlight announced on Aug. 6 that it had secured a strategic investment from Chinese EV battery giant Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited (CATL). According to the Shanghai-based AutoFlight, the investment is valued in the “hundreds of millions of dollars” and will serve as the basis for a long-term partnership between the two companies, one that will enable AutoFlight to accelerate its development of eVTOL battery technology. Meanwhile, on Aug. 1, AutoFlight announced that its Prosperity I eVTOL aircraft completed a flight across China’s Yangtze River. The 25-km (15-mile) flight lasted 10 minutes and exemplified the potential applications for eVTOL aircraft, AutoFlight said in a press release.
