Ecojet Fleet to Include ARC’s Linx P9

Ecojet signed a letter of intent with ARC Aerosystems to purchase 20 Linx P9 hybrid-electric compound helicopter, ARC Aerosystems announced on Aug. 1. The agreement includes an option for an additional 30 examples of the nine-passenger rotorcraft. Ecojet, an airline start-up based in the UK and founded in 2023 by entrepreneur Dale Vince, intends to include the rotorcraft in its planned fleet of sustainable aircraft. The Linx P3 will have a nine-passenger capacity, maximum cruise speed of up to 300 km/h (186 mph) and maximum range of up to 1,300 km (808 miles), according to the VFS World eVTOL Aircraft Directory. Both the ARC Aerosystems Linx P9 and its three-seat, all-electric sibling, the P3, are based on the Avian 2/180 Gyroplane (later marketed as the “Pegasus III”) which was certified by Transport Canada in the early 1960s (see “Electric VTOL News,” Vertiflite, March/April 2023).
