EHang Flies in EU Trials in Estonia
On Sept. 3, EHang conducted flight trials of the EH216 in Estonia, flying 5 miles (8 km) from Tartu Airport to the Estonian Aviation Museum. The trials were in support of the European Union’s GOF 2.0 Integrated Urban Airspace Validation program, which aims to develop a framework for the integration of eVTOL aircraft and drones into the airspace. The event marked the first beyond visual line of sight flight of an eVTOL in Europe and the start of a series of flight trials in support of the GOF 2.0 mission (the previous GOF project was conducted in the Gulf of Finland). Meanwhile, EHang announced on Oct. 6 that it was working with the Spanish National Police and the Polytechnic University of Valencia to explore potential applications for eVTOL aircraft in emergency and security missions. EHang displayed the EH216 at Cuatro Vientos Aerodrome during the World Air Traffic Management Congress.
