Pivotal Signs USAF Contract

Pivotal signed an Other Transaction Authority (OTA) agreement with the US Air Force AFWERX Agility Prime, the Palo Alto, California-based company said on May 28. In a press release, Pivotal said that the two-year agreement provides the company with access to test facilities and restricted airspace, enabling it to accelerate flight testing of the crewed and uncrewed versions of Helix, Pivotal’s fourth-generation eVTOL aircraft design. The OTA contract is Pivotal’s “first direct-to-government” contract and second Department of Defense transaction, CEO Ken Karklin said in a statement. In February, Pivotal delivered the first aircraft (shown) that were subcontracted by Modern Technology Solutions Inc. (MTSI) to deliver a total of eight BlackFly eVTOL aircraft for evaluation by AFWERX (see “Electric VTOL News,” Vertiflite, May/June 2024).
