SkyDrive Secures Orders, Avionics Partner
On July 21, SkyDrive announced that it had received a preorder for up to 100 SkyDrive eVTOL aircraft from Vietnam’s CT UAV JSC. The Toyota City, Japan-based SkyDrive will work with CT UAV, a technology-focused subsidiary of CT Group, on evaluating route networks and infrastructure requirements. The pre-order is the second in a year from customers in Vietnam; in November 2022, SkyDrive received a pre-order for up to 100 aircraft from Pacific Group.
In an announcement at the EAA AirVenture Oshkosh airshow on July 26, SkyDrive said that it had selected the Avidyne Quantum avionics system for its eVTOL aircraft. Unveiled by the Melbourne, Florida-based Avidyne Corporation in June, the Quantum avionics system is an open-architecture system designed with the AAM industry in mind and features customizable avionics hardware, AI processors and licensable IP, among other benefits, according to the company. “Avidyne’s Quantum avionics system is very competitive in performance, weight, and cost and will play one of the most important roles of the aircraft system of eVTOL,” said SkyDrive Chief Development Officer Arnaud Coville in a statement. In addition to SkyDrive, Avidyne is providing its Quantum system to VoltAero for its Cassio 330 fixed-wing aircraft.
