Skyportz Patents Vertiport, Gets 1,000 orders
After the Farnborough International Airshow (see “Farnborough Airshow 2024: Smarter Aviation,” Vertiflite, Sept/Oct 2024), Melbourne, Australia-based Skyportz announced that it had received three orders for its “vertipad” design totaling more than 1,000 orders. “The patented modular vertipad solution addresses a multitude of issues, including passenger safety, downwash, outwash, battery fires, power generation, power storage, debris capture, noise, environmental impacts, insurance risks and more — all in an affordable package that can be placed on airport tarmacs or on new vertiport sites,” the company announced on Aug. 9. Initial orders have been placed by an eVTOL aircraft developer and infrastructure investors. “The innovative design will enable operations from smaller footprints and that will have a significant and quantifiable benefit for both airports and property owners planning vertiports.”
