Urban Aero’s Sleek New H2eVTOL Design

Under the leadership of new CEO Nimrod Golan-Yanay, Yavne, Israel-based Urban Aeronautics has unveiled a stylish new makeover of its CityHawk eVTOL. The five-seater uses counter-rotating ducted fans in the front and rear of the lifting-body fuselage. The company also reiterated its intent to develop a hydrogen-electric-powered propulsion system (H2eVTOL). Urban Aero recently completed another series of flight tests with its Safran Arriel 2N turboshaft-powered demonstrator, which first flew in 2009 (see “Compact Vertical Flight: Urban Aeronautics Advances,” Vertiflite, Jan/Feb 2018). The company highlighted the compact dimensions of the CityHawk, which it says takes up a quarter of the space of a similarly sized propeller-based eVTOL.
