The information provided here is as accurate as possible; however, eVTOL information from China is sometimes sparse, incomplete or conflicting. China is promoting what they call the "low-altitude economy" — a new push for general aviation — which includes both crewed and uncrewed passenger and air cargo eVTOL aircraft.

Dream Aerospace Technology is in the business of designing and manufacturing long-range heavy-lift air cargo electric and hybrid-electric vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) aircraft. The company is located in Suzhou, Jiangsu, China.

DF3000 Youlong long-range passenger hybrid-electric VTOL concept design aircraft
The DF3000 Youlong is a piloted passenger hybrid tilt-propeller eVTOL concept design aircraft slated for urban and regional air travel. The futuristic looking aircraft will have comfortable seating with a large enough cabin for passenger comfort and to hold their luggage.

The company has not revealed many of the specifications of the aircraft such as the cruise speed, flight time, cruising altitude, empty weight, maximum payload weight or maximum takeoff weight. However, the range of the aircraft is predicted to be 1,000 km (621 m). The aircraft has one main high wing with four tilt-propellers, four VTOL-only propellers and has eight electric motors. The aircraft has one high main wing, a V tail and has fixed tricycle wheeled landing gear. The fuselage is made from carbon fiber composite to give the aircraft a high strength to low weight ratio.

The company has stated the prototype is foreseen to be completed by the end of 2025 and serial production is planned to begin in 2027.

Specifications:

  • Aircraft type: Long-range passenger hybrid-electric or electric VTOL prototype aircraft
  • Piloting: 1 pilot
  • Capacity: 5-7 passengers and their luggage
  • Cruise speed: Unknown
  • Range: 1,000 km (621 m)
  • Propellers: 8 propellers (4 tilt-propellers, 4 VTOL-only propellers. All propellers are on booms on the high main wing.)
  • Electric motors: 8 electric motors
  • Power source: Hybrid-electric power source
  • Fuselage: Carbon fiber composite
  • Wings: 1 main high wing
  • Tail: 1 V-tail
  • Landing gear: Fixed tricycle wheeled landing gear
  • Safety features: Distributed Electric Propulsion (DEP) uses multiple propellers or electric ducted fans, each powered by electric motors, to increase safety through redundancy. If one or more components fail, the remaining ones can still ensure a safe landing. There are also redundancies of critical components in the sub-systems of the aircraft providing safety through redundancy. Having multiple redundant systems on any aircraft decreases having any single point of failure. The aircraft can land conventionally if the VTOL propellers are not working or if the pilot chooses to land conventionally.
