Founded in 1990, DTA Aircraft Manufacturer is headquartered in Montelimar, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, France. The company manufacturers ultra light gyrocopters, trikes and wings. As of the end of 2023, the company has sold 595 aircraft in 33 countries. The company revealed in 2023 that they have designed and manufactured a passenger electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) multicopter aircraft and expect deliveries to take place in 2026.
eVTOL-2 DTA passenger eVTOL multicopter production model
The eVTOL-2 DTA is a two passenger eVTOL multicopter production model aircraft. The pilot and passenger sit one behind the other in a tandem seating configuration. The aircraft is being sold as an ultra-light aircraft. The cabin is completely enclosed with a canopy over the cockpit arrangement. The aircraft has clear gull-wing doors on both sides of the aircraft for easy entry and exit of the aircraft. The aircraft has full GPS flight enabled.
The flight time of the aircraft has been reported as two hours with a maximum cruise altitude of 4,000 meters (13,123 feet). The aircraft has eight carbon fiber propellers. Each pair of propellers are stacked at the ends of four booms located on the four corners of the aircraft. There are eight brushless electric motors that power the propellers and the aircraft uses battery packs for its power source. The aircraft is made from carbon fiber composite material for a high strength to low weight ratio. The multicopter has a modified V-tail. The aircraft has fixed tricycle wheeled landing gear. There is also a whole aircraft emergency ballistic parachute in case of an unexpected inflight emergency.
The company is taking pre-orders on their website and has stated deliveries are expected in 2026.
Specifications:
- Aircraft type: Passenger eVTOL multicopter aircraft
- Piloting: 1 pilot
- Capacity: 1 passenger
- Flight time: 2 hours
- Maximum cruise altitude: 4,000 m (13,123 ft)
- Propellers: 8 carbon fiber propellers
- Electric motors: 8 brushless electric motors
- Power source: Battery packs
- Fuselage: Carbon fiber composite
- Window: Canopy over cockpit
- Tail: 1 V-tail
- Landing gear: Fixed tricycle wheeled landing gear
- Safety features: Distributed Electric Propulsion (DEP) means having multiple propellers (or electric ducted fans) and multiple electric motors on an aircraft so if one or more propellers (or electric ducted fans) or some electric motors fail, the other working propellers (or electric ducted fans) and electric motors can safely land the aircraft. DEP provides safety through redundancy for its passengers or cargo. There are also redundancies of critical components in the sub-systems of the aircraft providing safety through redundancy for its passengers or cargo. Having multiple redundant systems on any aircraft decreases having any single point of failure. There is also a whole aircraft emergency ballistic parachute in case of an unexpected inflight emergency.
