Based in the USA, Pete Bitar and Carlos Salaff partnered together in the spring of 2021 and founded the company LEO Flight Corporation (formerly Urban eVTOL, LLC). The joint-venture is from Bitar's company Electric Jet Aircraft and Salaff's company SALAFF Automotive to design and manufacture electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) flying cars for advanced air mobility (AAM). The company is looking for investors.
Bitar is an avid VTOL and eVTOL inventor with over 14 patents to his name, has won multiple aerospace awards and has owned five companies throughout his career. His last two companies were AirBuoyant, LLC and Electric Jet Aircraft. Salaff is an automotive designer working with futuristic concept and production cars when at Mazda, including the Nagare, Furai, Mazda 3 and MX-5. He has won multiple design awards, has always had an interest in aerospace and outer space, and recently designed a Space Age inspired mobile office and lounge called the Pod Van.
JetBike passenger eVTOL mockup multicopter aircraft
The JetBike is a one passenger eVTOL trade show mockup multicopter aircraft. The mockup is a full-scale model of the what the JetBike production model will look like. The mockup aircraft does not fly. By building a mockup, this allows people to get a hands-on experience of what the real aircraft would be like and even sit inside.
The JetBike mockup has an open cockpit and has two joysticks that show people how the aircraft will be flown. The trade show model has 48 places for electric ducted fans (EDFs) and 48 electric motors. The fuselage is made from carbon fiber composite to give the aircraft a high strength to low weight ratio. The model has fixed skid landing gear.
JetBike production model information
The JetBike production model will operate under FAA Part 103 regulations for ultralight vehicles. Under these FAA rules, the pilot does not need a pilot's license. The planned specifications for the JetBike production model are as follows:
- Aircraft type: Passenger eVTOL multicopter aircraft
- Capacity: 1 pilot
- Maximum cruise speed: 60 mph (97 km/h)
- Maximum altitude: 15 ft (4.572 m)
- Flight time: 10-15 minutes
- Propellers: 48 EDFs (electric ducted fans)
- Electric motors: 48 electric motors
- Power source: Solid-state batteries
- Battery charge time: 10-15 minutes
- Noise level: 80 decibels
- Fuselage: Carbon fiber composite
- Cockpit: Open cockpit and with safety belt restraints
Landing gear: Fixed skid landing gear - Safety features: Distributed Electric Propulsion (DEP), provides safety through redundancy for its passengers and/or cargo. DEP means having multiple propellers and motors on the aircraft so if one or more motors or propellers fail, the other working motors and propellers can safely land the aircraft. The aircraft has no moving surfaces or tilting parts when transitioning from vertical to forward flight and the reverse which increases safety by reducing complexity. There are also redundancies of critical components in the sub-systems of the aircraft providing safety through redundancy. Having multiple redundant systems on any aircraft decreases having any single point of failure.
Future
As of July 2026, the company's website states the JetBike's target base price is $99,900.00 USD. In addition, LEO Flight is taking pre-orders on their website with a $999.00 USD deposit. Should you decide to cancel your order before purchasing the JetBike, the deposit is fully refundable. The company states the prices, specifications and timing for the production model to be production is subject to change. The company intends to begin serial production of the Jetbike by the end of 2026.
